Online Notepad
Start typing straight away. No account, no email, no waiting — and nothing you write ever leaves this browser.
Opening your notepad…
One note is a notepad. A semester is a notebook.
A free account gives you the full notebook: notebooks and sections, handwriting and diagrams alongside typing, file attachments, syncing across your phone and laptop, and sharing with classmates.
Online notepad — frequently asked questions
Is this notepad really free with no sign-up?
Yes. The page opens straight into a blank note with no account, no email and no trial. Your notes are saved in your own browser on the device you are using, so they are still there when you come back to the same browser.
Where are my notes stored?
In your browser's local storage on this device only. Nothing is sent to any server, which also means nobody at Calenote can read what you type. The trade-off is that clearing your browsing data or using private browsing will remove the notes, so download anything you need to keep.
Can I use this on a shared or college computer?
You can, but remember that notes stay in that browser after you leave. On a shared machine, download what you need and then delete the note before you log off, or use a private window and copy your text out before closing it.
Can I export my notes?
Yes, as a plain .txt file or a Markdown .md file, and you can print to PDF from the print dialog. Copy to clipboard is one tap if you are pasting into an assignment or a message.
How do I keep notes across my phone and laptop?
A browser notepad cannot sync by design, because nothing leaves the device. A free Calenote account gives you the full notebook, which syncs across devices, organises pages into sections and notebooks, and lets you share with classmates by email.
Does it count words for my assignment?
Yes. Word count, character count, line count and an estimated reading time update as you type, along the bottom of the page.
