A free Nepal income tax calculator using the FY 2083/84 slabs set by the Finance Act 2083 — the ones in force since Shrawan 1, 2083. It applies the 1% social security tax and its SSF waiver, caps SSF, EPF and CIT at the statutory limit, and shows exactly which band each rupee falls into. The previous FY 2082/83 slabs are kept for late filing and back-checks.

From FY 2083/84 the separate married-couple schedule was abolished — one table now applies to everyone, so there is nothing to choose here.

Slabs shown: FY 2083/84 (2026/27), Finance Act 2083. From Shrawan 1, 2083 the separate schedule for married couples was abolished — one table now applies to every resident individual. The 1% band widened from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh and the top rate fell from 39% to 29%.

This is an estimate for planning, not tax advice. Real payroll varies with how your employer splits basic pay and allowances, and rates are set annually by the Finance Act. Confirm against ird.gov.np or your accountant before filing or relying on a figure. A women's rebate applied under earlier rules — check whether it is in force for the year you are filing.

Frequently asked questions

What are the income tax slabs in Nepal for 2083/84?

For FY 2083/84 a single uniform table applies to every resident individual: 1% on the first Rs 10 lakh, 10% on the next Rs 5 lakh, 20% on the next Rs 10 lakh, 27% on the next Rs 15 lakh, and 29% above Rs 40 lakh. The separate married-couple schedule that existed in earlier years was abolished, the first band doubled from Rs 5 lakh, and the top rate fell from 39% to 29%.

Is there still a different tax slab for married couples in Nepal?

No, not from FY 2083/84 onward. The long-standing split, where couples got a Rs 6 lakh first band against Rs 5 lakh for individuals, has been merged into one table applying to everyone. If you are filing or amending for FY 2082/83 or earlier, the old split still applies to that year, which is why this calculator keeps the previous slabs available.

Do I pay the 1% social security tax if I contribute to the SSF?

No. The 1% charged on the first band is a Social Security Tax, and contributing to the Social Security Fund replaces it. If you are an SSF contributor the first Rs 10 lakh is effectively untaxed. Tick the SSF box and the calculator waives it for you.

How much SSF, EPF and CIT can I deduct?

Together they are capped at the lower of Rs 5,00,000 and one third of your assessable income. Contributing more than that is allowed but the excess is not deductible, and over-claiming is one of the most common errors on a self-filed return. This calculator applies the cap and tells you how much was disallowed.

What is the difference between gross salary and take-home pay?

Gross salary is what your offer letter says. Take-home is what reaches your bank after income tax and after your own SSF, EPF and CIT contributions leave the payslip. The gap is often 15 to 25 percent, which is why comparing two job offers on gross alone is misleading.

Is this calculator official IRD advice?

No. It is a planning estimate built on the published Finance Act slabs, and it is not tax advice. Actual payroll varies with how your employer splits basic pay and allowances, and rates change each year with the Finance Act. Confirm at ird.gov.np or with your accountant before filing.
